Instagram Is Testing Ads With Users That Cannot Be Skipped: Time To Delete The App?

Instagram has grown big which has made it a popular platform for influencers and advertisers. So the Meta-owned app wants to keep these people happy by adding new ads that cannot be skipped by its users.

The platform has confirmed the news in a media report this month, which leaves many of you questioning the point of using the app in the first place. The feature called ad breaks is being tested where in Instagram users will stop seeing the content from other people and scroll through a series of unskippable ads. The ads feature is being tested with a select group of people but the company confirming the details suggest a wider roll out is imminent.

Instagram Unskippable Ads: How it Looks

Instagram already shows you ads and you see them across posts, stories and more. But the prospect of an ad break which purely focuses on ads on the screen might not appeal to many of its users. Tests also show that people will see a timer for the amount of ads that Instagram will offer to the person.

Advertisers are a big target for companies like Meta so an ad-break slot makes sense for them but for the users, this could be a bad move and force millions to quit the platform or even make the jump to Snapchat for similar features.

YouTube already has its unskippable ads window but only for those who are using the platform for free. So, unless Instagram is readying a premium tier which will block these ads, people are likely to jump ship and wait for another option to come up in the market.
