The landscape of women’s tennis may just witness another seismic shift yet again as American tennis legend Serena Williams hinted at a possible comeback to professional tennis with a cryptic tweet on her X handle.

The legendary American excited fans all over with a tweet from her official X handle, which read, “I’m ready to hit some balls again,” hinting at a possible comeback to the game she loved and dominated.

I’m ready to hit some balls again— Serena Williams (@serenawilliams) May 21, 2024

Williams was last seen playing at the 2022 US Open, where she bid farewell to the home crowd after an illustrious career spanning over two decades.

She has 23 grand slam titles to her name and, together with sister Venus, she dominated what was previously a white tennis world.

“I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me. A few years ago I quietly started Serena Ventures, a venture capital firm. Soon after that, I started a family. I want to grow that family,’ wrote Williams in an article for Vogue back in 2022.

“Over the years, I hope that people come to think of me as symbolizing something bigger than tennis.”

But, now with her cryptic tweet, it seems as if the superstar might be aching to dip her toes onto the court once again.
