No More Cozying Up? 'Anti-Sex Beds' Installed In Athletes' Rooms At Paris Olympics 2024

‘Anti-sex’ beds have been reportedly placed in the rooms made for athletes in the Olympic village in an attempt to prevent them from engaging in sexual activities ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Paris Olympics team has placed ultra-light cardboard beds in rooms to prevent any amorous activities, an NY Post report said.

Designed by Airweave, these beds are made with cardboard frames that reportedly collapse under excess weight, ensuring more than one athlete cannot lie in the bed. The compact design of the bed also discourages any amorous activities. Notably, both the mattresses and frames are entirely recyclable.

Unusual materials and the compact design of these beds have led to them being termed as “anti-sex” beds, because of the fact that they are single frames and potentially not as sturdy as regular ones.

Similar design beds were used in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Paris will host the 2024 Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11 this year. The French capital is expected to see a footfall of over 10,000 athletes during those days.

Stories of Sex At Olympic Villages Over The Years

Stories of sexual activities taking place in Olympic villages made for athletes have made their way to the headlines over the years. The Mirror quoted an anonymous athlete admitting to having a foursome with a male teammate and two women at the Olympic Village at the 2012 London Olympics.

A US two-time gold medalist told The Mirror, “I’ve seen people having sex right out in the open. On the grass, between buildings, people are getting down and dirty.”
