With only a few hours remaining before WWE Backlash action unfolds, let’s take a detailed look at the match card of this event:

World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest (c) vs Jey Uso

Damian Priest had his moment of triumph on WrestleMania 40 after he snooped the World Heavyweight Championship under the noses of Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre. Priest cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on the Show of Shows and sealed a victory over the newly crowned superstar. He was assisted a little by CM Punk in winning the title. On the other hand, Jey Uso became the number-one contender by winning a fatal-four-way match on Monday Night RAW.

WWE Universal Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs AJ Styles

Cody Rhodes finished his story after beating Roman Reigns in his second consecutive WrestleMania main event this year. The American Nightmare now has AJ Styles in his way for a title defence at WWE Backlash. The Phenomenal One beat LA Knight in the finals of a mini-number-one contender tournament for a shot at Rhodes’ championship. This match-up will likely produce fireworks at the upcoming pay-per-view.

WWE Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs Tiffany Stratton vs Naomi

It was initially decided that Bayley would be defending her title against Naomi at the premium live event. Tiffany Stratton, however, just did not want to be on the sidelines as she continually intervened in the duo’s storyline. This led to WWE’s management announcing their fight to be a triple-threat one at the upcoming premium live event.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Kabuki Warriors (c) vs Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill

A lot of speculations were being made about the potential challengers for the Kabuki Warriors’ tag-team titles. The duo of Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill already teamed up with Naomi to beat the Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 40. The ongoing tension between the duo and Kabuki Warrior has spurred the tag-team title match at WWE Backlash.

The Bloodline vs Kevin Owens and Randy Orton

Solo Sikoa has taken over the family by force amid Roman Reigns’ absence from the company. The new Bloodline leader will have his opportunity to prove himself as a promising wrestler at WWE Backlash alongside the family’s latest member Tama Tonga. With Kevin OTwens finding himself atop Sikoa’s hitlist, he will be teaming along with Randy Orton to beat the Bloodline this weekend.
