The latest of the WWE NXT was brought to the fans live from the company’s Performance Centre in Orlando. The show began with some championship action as Roxanne Perez defended her NXT women’s title against Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in a triple-threat match.
This week’s episode of WWE NXT also witnessed a special Beach Brawl match between Sol Ruca and Blair Davenport. Baron Corbin was also on the match card, advertised to take on Lexis King. The show’s main event was held between NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov and Trick Williams in a Title vs Career match-up. Here we take a look at some of the key takeaways from this week’s WWE NXT.
Roxanne Perez’s big win
The night’s opening fight saw NXT Women’s champion Roxanne Perez successfully defend her crown against Lyra Valkyria and Tatum Paxley. Following a series of reversals, Valkyria blasted Perez with a kick to the face. Before capitalising on the move, Paxley rolled her up with a sunset flip and then followed up with a 450 splash. Perez, however, got back into the action using a rolling prawn hold for a three count.
NXT Underground Contract Signing
NXT General Manager Ava was in the ring for this segment. The ring was set up with high chairs with the ropes and turnbuckles removed. Ava introduced Natalya and Lola Vice, both of whom signed the contract almost immediately. Natalya then stated she would beat some respect into Vice at the upcoming premium event. Shayna Bazler interrupted the contract signing and told Natalya she had no chance against Vice. Eventually, a brawl broke out but Pertovic and Natalya cleared the ring.
Trick Williams saves his NXT career
The final match of NXT’s latest episode was a Title vs Career match between the brand’s champion Ilja Dragunov and Trick Williams. The match saw some intense action as Williams Rock Bottomed Dragunov off the barricade at the announcers’ table. The champ then followed with two H-Bombs but Williams kicked out. Dragunov then tried to finish off his opponent with the Torpedo but got countered into a Trick Knee.

Lyra Valkyria vs Roxanne Perez (c) vs Tatum Paxley for the NXT Women’s Championship – Roxanne Perez retained her title using a bridging pin on Tatum Paxley.
D’Angelo Family vs No Quarter Catch Crew – Tony D’Angelo sealed a pinfall victory for the D’Angelo family using a Thrust Spinebuster on Charlie Dempsey.
Fallon Henley vs Jaida Parker – Parker secured a victory via pinfall with a running hip attack on Henley
Blair Davenport vs Sol Ruca in a Beach Brawl match – Ruca won by pinfall after hitting Davenport with the Backflip Stunner Thing.
Baron Corbin vs Lexis King – King beat Corbin by pinfall using the Coronation.
Ilja Dragunov (c) vs Trick Williams in a Title vs Career match for the NXT Championship – Trick Williams saved his career by beating Dragunov with the Trick Shot, becoming the new NXT Champion.
