Fresh off a historic win over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes is now reportedly set to focus on his acting career. The reigning Undisputed WWE Champion will make a cameo appearance in a remake of the action-comedy film The Naked Gun, as per Daily Mail.

Rhodes is expected to share the screen with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, who will play the lead role in the upcoming Naked Gun reboot. According to Daily Mail, the American Nightmare might be playing the role of himself in the upcoming reboot of the action-comedy franchise The Naked Gun. Despite being a cameo, Rhodes’ role is tipped to have a major impact on the storyline.

Cody Rhodes could portray the character of a man, who would become a victim of hypnotisation at the hands of the villain. Created on the concept of the famous TV series Police Squad, the original Naked Gun first hit the theatres in 1988. It experienced tremendous box-office success. The movie was credited for setting a new benchmark as for the first time in Hollywood, it parodied the action genre.

Considering the success, the producers released two more films of the same franchise over the next six years. The new Naked Gun will be directed by the Lonely Island member Akiva Schaffer, who is known for movies like Hot Rod, Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping and the animated version of Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.

During his first spell with WWE, Cody Rhodes had featured in an episode of the SyFy Network series ‘Warehouse 13’. After parting ways with the wrestling company in 2016, Rhodes put more focus on acting. He had a recurring role on The CW’s popular TV show– Arrow where he played the role of Derek Sampson. He also lent his voice to several animated WWE projects.

Cody Rhodes is currently enjoying the best time of his WWE career after dethroning Roman Reigns to become the new Undisputed Champion. He will defend the title for the first time at Backlash, which is slated to be held next month. In the championship match, Cody Rhodes will take on AJ Styles, who earned qualification by getting the better of LA Knight in the last episode of the SmackDown.
