After failing to qualify for the Champions League, Manchester United are now reportedly expected to suffer a major setback in the transfer market. As per a report, the Premier League giants may very well have to deal with the shocking departure of Bruno Fernandes this summer.

An article published by Portuguese outlet O JOGO claims that Bayern Munich are talking to the Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho. But Bayern Munich are understood to be not the only side who are willing to rope in the Portuguese midfielder.

The report claimed that Barcelona have also expressed a deep interest in landing Fernandes and that the Spanish outfit could soon open a negotiation for the Manchester United footballer.

Amid the rumours of his summer transfer, Bruno Fernandes himself had recently commented on the matter. “I will be here until… I said the club needs to want me. I feel that is the case, the club wants me to be a part of the future. As I’ve always said, I don’t want to be a player that the club doesn’t want to have. If for some reason the club doesn’t want to have me I will go but if they want me I will stay,” the 29-year-old had said as per Sport Bible.

Bruno Fernandes recently completed his fifth season at Manchester United. Having made 48 appearances last season, Fernandes netted 15 goals and registered 13 assists.

Fernandes had arrived at the Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, he has scored 79 goals for Manchester United so far. Fernandes is contracted at Manchester United until 2026 and the club have the option to extend his stint for another year.

Manchester United could manage to finish at the eighth spot in the Premier League standings last season and they ended up at the bottom of their Champions League group. As per The Telegraph, Manchester United are ready to listen to offers for the majority of their first-team players this summer apart from a couple of rising stars. The article even claimed that the club are believed to be looking to sign a striker, central midfielder and right-sided centre-half this summer. Manchester United will, however, reportedly have to raise funds through sales to increase their transfer budget.
