Cannes Throwback: Aditi Rao Hydrai Channels Her Bibbojaan Energy In A Golden Gharara Set

Aditi Rao Hydari’s cinematic performance as Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar lives in our minds rent-free. Besides her stellar acting chops, it was the diva’s now-viral Gaja Gamini walk and breathtaking traditional silhouettes that left us mesmerised. Now, Aditi Rao Hydrai is once again refreshing our Heeramandi memories. Recently, she shared a set of throwback pictures on Instagram from her red-carpet appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. Safe to say, the Bollywood star channelled her inner Bibbojaan in a dazzling gharara, painting the French Rivera in a vivid molten golden shade.

Aditi Rao Hydari’s resplendent ensemble was sourced from the shelves of renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra. Her royal-coded ensemble featured a full-sleeved kurta, adorned with exquisite gold sequins. Intricate zari embroidery around the neckline, sleeve cuffs, and hem added an extra dose of glimmer, enhanced by the shining sun. Delicate buttons on the back of the kurta hinted at a modern touch. Aditi paired the outfit with a flared and floor-sweeping lehenga skirt that came with identical gold-laced elements below. The remarkable play of sequins doubled up her allure.

In terms of accessories, Aditi Rao Hydari struck wonder by putting on a pair of traditional golden jhumkas. She did not need any more pieces of jewellery to elevate her charm. Her jaw-dropping outfit took care of that. For makeup, the actress incorporated a touch of gold with a hint of sun-kissed vibe. She opted for a matte base, adding just the right amount of blush and contour to her cheeks. A bright red lipstick served as a pop of contrast, contributing further to her queenly appeal. And if that was not enough, Aditi went for a subtle shimmery metallic eyeshadow, coupled with a stroke of intense eyeliner, mascara-coated fluttery lashes, and well-sculpted brows. The luminous glow on her face was simply unmissable. The credit goes to her makeup artist Elton J Fernandez.

Aditi Rao Hydari put on a red micro-bindi which amped up her gorgeous avatar. She rounded off her look by pulling her tresses into a neatly-done updo, secured with a white flower garland.
