Currently, Valeo remanufactures around 1,000,000 parts each year, marketed in more than 8,000 references across the world in its complete portfolio.
New Delhi: In 2021, the Valeo Group launched its CAP 50 decarbonization program. Valeo is also a signatory of the “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” campaign, which brings together companies committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, using the strict framework of the Science Based Targets initiative. Decarbonisation must go hand-in-hand with a circular economy. In 2023, the Group launched the 4R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover) program to deploy circularity in the automotive industry and beyond.

“For over 20 years, our choices in terms of technology, governance, and environmental and social management have illustrated our commitment to tackling sustainable development challenges in a holistic way. The automotive industry is responsible for almost 20% of CO2 emissions worldwide, making decarbonization one of the key challenges we face today. And we aim to address the issue in a broad way that goes beyond vehicle use and involves our entire ecosystem – our plants, employees, suppliers and partners,” Christophe Périllat, Valeo Chief Executive Officer, said.

Remanufacturing:
Leveraging its balanced global footprint and its 40 years of experience in remanufacturing mechanical products like alternators and clutches for passenger cars and heavy-duty vehicles through an all-brands program, Valeo currently remanufactures one million products annually and aims to double this capacity by 2030, further accelerating its impact by:

● Boosting the current portfolio and expanding its footprint Expanding the portfolio to answer the growing electronization of the cars, driven by the acceleration of electrification and ADAS. For example Valeo launched the world’s first remanufactured Front Camera with Stellantis in 2023.

● Extending to more forms of mobility, with e-bike motors & batteries for e-bike fleets. For example, Valeo announced its partnership with Smovengo for the repair of batteries in Valeo’s“Circular Electronics Lab” in Nevers (France) and the remanufacturing of motors in the ”Circular Innovation Factory” in Czechowice (Poland).

● Innovate with Eco-design: with CanopyTM, the first Valeo Aftermarket innovation designed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 61%* thanks to a radical transformation of the product, packaging, and production cycle.

● Promote circular economy with reman products and repair components

● Contribute to decarbonizing mobility with spare parts to equip Electrified Vehicles and the development of a complete charging solution.

● More sustainable products

● More respectful packaging for the environment thanks to progressive plastic eradication, contributing to saving more than 430 tons of plastic per year

● Less impactful transportation with the development of direct deliveries, each time it is possible from the Valeo factory to distributors warehouses. 14 million of goods were directly delivered in 2023.

Valeo's remanufacturing infrastructure offers vast potential for the Independent Aftermarket in Europe.

Valeo brings concrete answers to scale up remanufacturing with communication campaigns dedicated to professionals; development of specific training modules for mechanic; and facilitation of parts distributors job, by streamlining core collection processes to reduce timing to 4 weeks, from core collection to credit note.

Through these efforts, Valeo is committed to fostering trust in remanufacturing as a key pillar of circular economy practices and driving towards a more sustainable automotive aftermarket.

Starting with heavy duty clutches 40 years ago, Valeo integrated remanufacturing at a very early stage into its strategy to reduce CO2 emissions and to optimize resource consumption. Valeo has been operating an all-brands program. Its remanufacturing portfolio includes:

Rotating Machines for passenger cars: Starters, alternators, and air conditioning compressors.

● Transmissions & Braking Systems for passenger cars: torque converters, dual mass flywheels, dual wet clutches & brake calipers.

● Clutches for trucks.

Currently, Valeo remanufactures around 1,000,000 parts each year, marketed in more than 8,000 references across the world in its complete portfolio. Valeo has 2 production facilities and a dedicated warehouse covering approximately 83 000 sqm. The site hosts the Valeo Worldwide Remanufacturing Competence center.
