Petrol pumps in Pune are set to receive a technological upgrade through the implementation of advanced automated cameras. The cameras will have the ability to scan vehicle registration numbers, cross-referencing them with a central database to confirm the PUC status of each vehicle.
If a vehicle's PUC certificate is expired, drivers will get immediate fines on their registered mobile phones. Yet, there might be a short grace period to allow drivers to renew their PUC before finalizing fines for compliance. It is important to mention that we are waiting for official confirmation from authorities, and the timeline for implementing this system is still unknown.
7000 Traffic Challan in Mumbai for Parking
During a week-long special initiative from May 6 to May 12, the Mumbai Traffic Police took action against double parking on streets, issuing 7714 challans and collecting fines amounting to INR 7.01 lakh. Double parking, deemed illegal, has long been a concern for road users, prompting complaints on X (formerly Twitter). Each traffic division received directives to penalize vehicles engaged in unauthorized double parking, which obstructs the smooth flow of traffic.
Previously, the traffic police targeted vehicles parked at bus stops, issuing fines to 9658 motorists and amassing INR 10.21 lakh in penalties. This focused effort occurred between April 24 and May 5 citywide.
