BYD India has launched 6 and 7 seater electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the BYD eMAX 7 at INR 26,90,000 ex-showroom across India. This new electric vehicle variant is available in two models, Superior and Premium, boasting battery capacities of 71.8 kWh and 55.4 kWh and ranges of 530 km and 420 km as NEDC tested, respectively. BYD eMAX 7 aims to cater to progressive, eco-conscious families by offering advanced features and seating versatility, succeeding the BYD e6 model.

Design

Design-wise, the BYD eMAX 7 features a sleek aerodynamic exterior with the dragon-face fascia giving it a commanding front look. The Crystal Diamond Floating LED headlights contribute to its futuristic aesthetic, while the 17-inch alloy wheels enhance its presence. Inside, the vehicle offers a luxurious Black and Brown two-tone interior with a neatly designed dashboard and ergonomically sound seating.

The BYD eMAX 7 comes with a 12.8-Inch rotatable infotainment display, a 5-Inch advanced instrument cluster, and an expansive 1.42 sqm panoramic glass roof to create an open, airy feel. For cargo, the vehicle offers a 580-liter trunk with the third-row seats folded, and the middle row can be split into a 60:40 arrangement for even more space. The car is available in four exterior color options: Quartz Blue, Cosmos Black, Crystal White, and Harbour Grey.

Features

The BYD eMAX 7 is available exclusively at BYD showrooms throughout India, marking a significant milestone for the company. This vehicle is powered by the 8-in-1 electric powertrain from BYD's e-platform 3.0 and comes in 6- and 7-seater configurations for both the Superior and Premium variants. The Superior model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, while the Premium model does so in 10.1 seconds. Featuring a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, which is among the best in the MPV segment, BYD eMAX 7 ensures a comfortable ride.

Convenience features are another strong suit of the BYD eMAX 7. The vehicle has separate AC vents for all three rows, and Type A and Type C charging ports for the first two rows. The 12.8-Inch intelligent rotating touch screen supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for seamless phone connectivity. Additionally, the car is equipped with a 6-speaker sound system, voice assistance, keyless entry, an NFC card key, electric trunk opening, PM 2.5 filtration system, and automatic air conditioning.

Price range

The pricing for the BYD eMAX 7 varies by variant and seating configuration. The Premium model with a 55.4 kWh battery and 6-seater option starts at INR 26,90,000, while the 7-seater version costs INR 27,50,000. The Superior model with a 71.8 kWh battery and 6-seater configuration is priced at INR 29,30,000, and the 7-seater at INR 29,90,000.

BYD's Blade Battery

In terms of technology, the vehicle is equipped with BYD's Blade Battery and the 8-in-1 electric powertrain from their e-platform 3.0. The Blade Battery design increases the surface contact area between cells for efficient heat transfer and reduces risks in collisions. The 8-in-1 electric powertrain optimizes space and energy efficiency by integrating the motor, motor controller, reducer, on-board charger, DC converter, high-voltage distribution box, vehicle controller, and Battery Management System (BMS).

To further assure customers, BYD is offering a comprehensive warranty for the vehicle. The traction battery has an 8-year or 160,000-kilometre warranty, the motor and motor controller come with an 8-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty, and components like the DC-DC assembly and high-voltage electric control assembly have a 6-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty.

Safety

BYD eMAX 7 offers a wide array of safety features including six airbags as standard, ABS, EPF, EBD, and ADAS. Driver assistance technologies like VTOL (Vehicle to Load) and regenerative braking further enhance usability and safety. The VTOL feature can be useful for powering electrical equipment during outdoor activities.
