MG Windsor
MG Windsor, marketed as India's first Intelligent Compact Utility Vehicle (CUV), achieved unprecedented success by securing 15,176 bookings within the first 24 hours of launching on October 3, 2024. This accomplishment makes the MG Windsor the first passenger electric vehicle (EV) in India to reach such a milestone in a single day, reflecting the increasing demand for electric mobility in the country.

MG Windsor features

The MG Windsor combines the comfort elements of a sedan with the spaciousness of an SUV, featuring an aerodynamic design, luxurious interiors, robust safety features, smart connectivity, and high-end technology. Priced starting at INR 9.99 lakh plus INR 3.5 per km under the Battery as a Service (BaaS) program, customers also have the option to purchase it outright, with prices beginning from INR 13,49,800 (ex-showroom). Three variants are available for buyers: Excite, Exclusive, and Essence, and it comes in four colors: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer of JSW MG Motor India, expressed his gratitude for this achievement. "We are grateful to our customers who have embraced the MG Windsor wholeheartedly and enabled it to reach the milestone of 15,176 bookings in just one day. This achievement solidifies the MG Windsor's position as a progressive force in India's electric vehicle market. As the first EV to reach this benchmark, the MG Windsor’s popularity underscores the increasing demand for sustainable, cost-effective, and rider-friendly transportation choices among Indian car buyers. We are delighted to contribute to this evolution, and remain committed to delivering innovative, intelligent, and eco-friendly mobility solutions.”

Power and driving modes

The vehicle is powered by a 38 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, certified with an IP67 rating, and delivers a performance of 100KW (136ps) power and 200Nm torque across four driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport. It boasts an ARAI-certified range of 332 kilometers on a single charge.

MG Motor India has initiated several industry-first programs to enhance the ownership experience. The Windsor EV comes with a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner, offers one year of free public charging through the eHUB by MG app, and provides an assured 60% buyback after 3 years or 45,000 kilometers. Additionally, the MG e-Shield package includes a 3-year unlimited kilometer warranty on the vehicle, 3 years of roadside assistance coverage, and three labor-free services.

With its competitive pricing, advanced technology, and substantial initial demand, the MG Windsor is set to be a significant player in India’s electric vehicle market. The company’s efforts to integrate sustainable and user-friendly options reflect the broader shift toward eco-friendly transportation solutions in the Indian auto industry.
