Kia EV9
Kia has unveiled its 2.0 transformation strategy in India, focusing on advanced design, technology, and innovations to reshape the Indian automobile industry. The strategy includes the launch of two new models, the EV9 and Carnival Limousine, equipped with Kia Connect 2.0 and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology. These advancements aim to enhance connectivity, diagnostics, and user experience, positioning Kia as a technological leader in the market.

Kia’s 2.0 transformation strategy represents a significant advancement in the Indian automobile ecosystem, blending cutting-edge technology with innovative design and enhanced connectivity. The introduction of models like the EV9 and Carnival Limousine, featuring Kia Connect 2.0 and V2X technology, underscores Kia's commitment to pioneering the future of mobility and revolutionising the automobile industry in India.

Kia EV9

Kia India has launched EV9 at INR 1.30 crore. It has been named the prestigious World Car of the Year 2024 (WCOTY). Powered by a 99.8 kWh battery, the EV9 offers a range of up to 561 kilometers on a single charge, suitable for both city driving and long-distance travel. Its ultra-fast charging capability allows the battery to recharge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes using a 350kW DC charger.

Inside, the EV9 is equipped with Kia Connect 2.0, which features sophisticated integration with smart devices, real-time updates, and remote vehicle control. With 44 controllers, the EV9 can be diagnosed remotely, enhancing convenience and reducing downtime. The Digital Key 2.0 allows owners to unlock and start the vehicle using their smartphones, emphasising the vehicle's advanced technology. Additionally, the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature allows users to power devices while on the go, further enhancing the vehicle's utility.

Kia EV9 design

The EV9 is built on the 'Opposites United' design philosophy, featuring a futuristic, angular design with a digital pattern lighting grille that enhances its striking appearance. Its digital capabilities are further highlighted by the Trinity panoramic display, which combines a 31.24 cm (12.3-inch) HD display instrument cluster, a 12.7 cm (5-inch) HD HVAC display, and a 31.24 cm (12.3-inch) HD touchscreen navigation system. This integration provides an immersive and intuitive driving experience, simplifying access to essential information and boosting both convenience and safety on the road.

Safety is also a paramount focus for the EV9, which includes over 27 Autonomous Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, multi-collision brakes, vehicle stability management, and a comprehensive 10-airbag system. These features ensure maximum protection for all occupants, enhancing the overall safety profile of the vehicle.

Kia 2.0 strategy

At the core of the Kia 2.0 strategy is the newly updated Kia Connect 2.0 platform, which offers over-the-air (OTA) software updates for maps and vehicle diagnostics. This technology allows Kia to remotely diagnose and update the EV9 and Carnival Limousine, utilising 44 and 27 controller modules respectively. This feature streamlines vehicle maintenance and ensures that owners can benefit from the latest enhancements without the need for dealership visits.

Another significant leap in Kia's transformation is the Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technology, designed to integrate seamlessly with consumers' digital lifestyles. V2X technology expands the potential of connected vehicles by enabling interactions with various infrastructures, devices, and other vehicles. The EV9 is currently the only vehicle in India with V2X compatibility, but Kia plans to extend this technology to additional models after market evaluation and preparedness.
