Ashok Leyland September sales drop 12% with 16,041 units

Total sales accounted a decline of 13% Y-o-Y.
Ashok Leyland, India's major commercial vehicle manufacturer released its monthly sales for September 2024 today. The company has observed a decline in its sales, with total domestic sales decreasing 12%.

The company registered a decline of 12% with sales decreasing to 16,041 units in September 2024 from 18,193 units in September 2023. Total vehicle sales (exports and domestic sales) decreases by 10% to 17,233 units in September 2024 from 19,202 units in September 2023.

M&HCV sales

Domestic M&HCV sales dropped from 11,960 units in September 2023 to 10,210 units in September 2024. M&HCV sales observed 15% drop Y-o-Y. Total sales (domestic +exports) of M&HCV dropped to 11,077 units from 12,752 units in September 2023. Total sales accounted a decline of 13% Y-o-Y.

LCV Sales

The company observed a drop of 6% in its domestic light commercial vehicle sales. Ashok Leyland sold 5,831 units in September 2024, as against 6,233 units in September 2023. The exports were also dropped by 5%. The company shipped 6,156 units in September 2024, while in September 2023 it exported 6,450 units.

Tie-up with Flix Bus

Ashok Leyland has also announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FlixBus India to revolutionise inter-city mobility in India. This partnership aims to transform the country's bus transportation ecosystem by leveraging advanced technology and innovation in high-capacity vehicles.

The MoU was signed by Mohan K, Head – Bus Vertical at Ashok Leyland, Max Zeumer, COO of FlixBus, and Surya Khurana, MD of FlixBus India. With this collaboration, FlixBus’s operating bus partners will gain access to Ashok Leyland’s advanced chassis and after-sales services, ensuring smooth operations throughout the country. This initiative will provide efficient and seamless travel options, empowering local bus operators with advance technology.
