Hyundai Motor India expands export portfolio with launch of Exter in South Africa

The Hyundai Exter , manufactured exclusively by HMIL, achieved over 100,000 sales in India within a year of its launch, highlighting its robust performance in the market.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), one of the leading exporters of passenger vehicles from India, has announced the expansion of its export portfolio with the introduction of the Hyundai Exter to the South African market. The Exter now becomes the eighth model exported to the country from India.

HMIL shipped the first batch of 996 units of the Exter to South Africa, marking a significant milestone in its export journey. With the inclusion of the Exter, Hyundai’s export offerings in South Africa now include eight models: the GRAND i10 Nios, Aura, i20, i20 N Line, Venue, Venue N Line, and Alcazar.

“South Africa has always been an important export market for HMIL, as many of the models manufactured at our factory in Tamil Nadu are exported there. Additionally, 2024 is a milestone year for HMIL, marking 20 years of exporting world-class products to South Africa. Our ‘Made in India, Made for the World’ strategy demonstrates our manufacturing excellence, as our products are not only loved by Indian customers but are also appreciated globally. I am confident that the Hyundai Exter will be highly appreciated in South Africa, replicating its success and popularity in India,” said Jae Wan Ryu, Function Head - Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor India Limited.

The Hyundai Exter, manufactured exclusively by HMIL, has achieved significant success, with over 100,000 units sold in India within a year of its launch. The 2024 variant of the Exter is even more appealing, offering Hy-CNG (Dual Cylinder CNG) and Knight Edition variants, which aim to continue its strong performance in the dynamic Indian market.

Hyundai Motor India’s commitment to delivering high-quality vehicles is evident through its extensive export portfolio and the global appreciation of its products. The company aims to replicate the Exter’s success in South Africa as it continues to expand its global footprint.
