Neuron Energy and Pointo's joint efforts will enhance electric mobility infrastructure across India, particularly benefiting regions like Kolkata, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.
Neuron Energy, a key manufacturer of EV batteries, has partnered with Pointo, a leader in the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) sector, to lease lithium-ion batteries to commercial E-Rickshaws in India. Starting in August 2024, Neuron Energy will deliver up to 12,000 high-capacity 5.1KW lithium-ion batteries for L3 category e-rickshaws, aiming to replace lead-acid batteries and foster sustainable electric mobility.

Benefits for the companies

Neuron Energy's reputation for innovative electric mobility solutions—including lead-acid, lithium-ion, and sodium-ion batteries—will greatly benefit from this strategic partnership. Through this collaboration, Pointo will lease Neuron Energy’s advanced battery packs in key markets such as Kolkata, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. This initiative will bolster electric mobility infrastructure, providing e-rickshaw drivers with cost-effective, high-performance battery alternatives.

Pratik Kamdar, CEO & Co-Founder of Neuron Energy, emphasised the significance of the collaboration: "Our partnership with Pointo signifies a major step forward in advancing sustainable mobility solutions by ensuring a consistent, high-quality battery supply for the rapidly growing E-Rickshaw sector. At Neuron Energy, we are committed to driving the future of electric mobility through our innovative battery technologies. This alliance will enable us to scale our efforts and transform the EV landscape across India."

Riki Biswas, Founder of Pointo, highlighted the partnership's impact on the market: "Pointo, as a pioneer in the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) sector, integrates OEMs and NBFCs to ensure the highest quality and performance of our products while streamlining battery leasing and lifecycle management. Our partnership with Neuron will accelerate market entry and establish premier service facilities, enhancing customer support and minimizing downtime. Together, we are committed to advancing the adoption of next-generation green batteries and delivering sustainable energy solutions for the mobility sector."

Accelerating EV adoption

The leasing model for EV batteries is recognised as a transformative approach, offering an affordable, scalable, and sustainable solution to foster electric vehicle adoption. This partnership aligns with Neuron Energy's and Pointo's shared vision to promote eco-friendly transportation and strengthen the Indian EV ecosystem for a greener future.

Neuron Energy and Pointo's joint efforts will enhance electric mobility infrastructure across India, particularly benefiting regions like Kolkata, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. By providing high-quality lithium-ion batteries through a leasing model, they aim to offer a sustainable alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries, thereby reducing environmental impact.

This move is expected to support the growing demand for e-rickshaws in India and promote the transition to electric mobility. The collaboration underscores both Neuron Energy's and Pointo's commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and fostering a greener transportation sector in the country.

The introduction of the leasing model by Neuron Energy and Pointo will significantly boost the electric vehicle market in India, aligning with the global push towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly technologies
