Largest electric vehicle charging station in Raigad district.
Navi Mumbai: The largest electric vehicle charging station in Raigad district, with a capacity of 2.25 MVA (Mega Volt Amp), has recently been commissioned near the gate of JSW Company on the Mumbai to Goa highway at Pen. The charging station was constructed in a short period and can accommodate the charging of 10 buses simultaneously. Locals have welcomed the move and demanded more such stations in the region.

An official from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) said that JSW Company submitted a proposal to the Pen Mandal office of Mahavitaran for the establishment of the 2.25 MVA charging centre.

The project was commissioned in a short period since Chief Engineer of Bhandup Circle Sunil Kakade and Superintending Engineer of Pen Circle Rajaram Mane took personal interest.

The need for such a facility was felt recognising the potential of the charging station in reducing air pollution in the region, said an official. “Mahavitran efficiently provided the necessary electrical connection to the project within a short timeframe,” added an official. The charging station's capacity allows for the charging of ten electric buses at a time, with a total of 61 electric buses expected to be charged at the facility throughout the day.

The swift completion of the project was made possible through the continuous efforts of Mahavitaran's team, including executive engineer in charge of Pen (administration), Ravikiran Patil, additional executive engineer of Pen testing department Neelam Gangode, and deputy executive engineer of Pen Sub-Division Siddharth Khobragade.

The JSW administration has hailed the effort of the Mahavitran team in establishing the charging station. “It was the need of the hour to have an electric charging station in the area which lacked one. This has come as a great relief,” said Anant Patil, a bus owner.
