India is advancing rapidly in electric vehicle innovation and manufacturing.
India's leadership in two-wheeler design and manufacturing is undisputed. Our country has
taken bold strides towards becoming Atmanirbhar in design, engineering, innovation, and the
local supply chain. The Electric Vehicle (EV) sector stands poised to elevate this leadership
further.

The two-wheeler leadership in green mobility is anchored on India's commitment towards the
COP26 and Net Zero 2070 goals at its core. As the Government and Original Equipment
Manufacturers (OEMs) set in motion progressive yet customer-centric plans, India is
emerging as the center of gravity in global electric mobility. The diversity of India's customer
base, made up of increasingly aware and value-conscious consumers, continues to inspire
the best of Indian engineering.

Driving Innovation: India's Path to Global EV Leadership

In 2015, as EVs began revolutionizing mass personal and commercial mobility, India
embarked on an impressive journey from its then 81st place on the Global Innovation Index.
By 2023, the country had made a remarkable leap of 41 positions to secure the 40th spot—a
testament to India's unwavering commitment to innovation and progress. During this
transformative period, auto exports grew by 23%, soaring from 3.5 million to around 4.3
million vehicles. This growth reflects India's flourishing and globally respected manufacturing
ecosystem.

Policy Support and Infrastructure: Enablers of India’s EV Ambitions

The country's forward-thinking policy environment, exemplified by visionary initiatives like the
National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP), the Production Linked Incentive (PLI), and
the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) schemes, further
bolsters India's dedication to embracing electric mobility and solidifies its position as a future
leader in the global EV race.

Recognizing the golden opportunity that 'Make in India' represents, TVS Motor has also
invested in the Indian Foundation for Quality Management (IFQM), a visionary not-for-profit
organization committed to elevating the quality and global perception of Indian-made goods.
While India currently has around 6,586 public charging stations, further innovative solutions
in public charging, such as charging hubs in community spaces, are set to revolutionize the
infrastructure landscape. Ongoing expansion and increased accessibility of charging
stations, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, will undoubtedly accelerate EV adoption
across the nation.

TVS - Pioneering India’s EV Revolution

TVS Motor Company has led the charge in two-wheeler design and manufacturing in India,
selling over 50 million vehicles worldwide. A deep commitment to customer-first thinking and
the development of world-class technology has been core to TVS. Early investments in EV
technology and engineering, initiated over a decade ago, have positioned TVS Motor as a
forward-thinking, innovative player in the electric mobility space. Due to this unwavering
intent, TVS EV products are on the road across India and in countries across the globe.
For electric mobility, TVS Motor is investing in an ecosystem that bolsters TVS’ scale-with-
quality capability to meet the trust of buyers and is committed to a robust R&D roadmap that
builds a strong pipeline for the mobility of the future. The success of the TVS iQube series,
with over 350,000 customers, is a manifestation of this strategy, with an even more
promising path ahead for leadership in India and global markets.

TVS Motor has created a footprint in global markets such as the Philippines, Indonesia,
Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The TVS iQube is making an impact in these regions owing to its
reliability, robust engineering, and industry-leading features. TVS Motor has plans to enter
European markets with the TVS iQube and TVS X in its lineup.

Role of Indian Auto Component Makers, SMEs, and Global Partners in India's EV
Ecosystem

Recognizing the crucial importance of securing essential materials like lithium, cobalt,
graphite, nickel, and copper, India is proactively forging global partnerships through bilateral
treaties, strategic alliances, and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Bilateral agreements also
have a butterfly effect on trade by reinstating trust between partner nations.
Cutting-edge technological collaborations with advanced global counterparts by OEMs and
auto-component makers are emerging as highly effective strategies for building world-class
midstream capabilities.

Furthermore, EV and connected vehicles are naturally linked. India has leapfrogged in
connectivity and vehicle software due to high digital penetration and our resident IT
engineering prowess. On the downstream front, battery recycling is gaining impressive
momentum, riding the wave of an ever-expanding EV market.

Connecting these crucial linkages within the EV ecosystem are SMEs. The SME ecosystem
today has risen to the call of indigenization. Product innovation, design, and component
manufacturing are intricately linked across these ancillaries that serve as microcosms of
excellence.

Smart Solutions: Shaping India’s Future in Electric Mobility

While global auto markets have traditionally been governed by scale-to-cost economics, the
EV industry now stands at the cusp of a transformative era. India’s strengths—its abundant
land, skilled and young human resources, deep knowledge base, and robust governance
capital—position it exceptionally well for success.

Innovation, frugal engineering, continuous improvement, and adoption have propelled an
economically emergent India into the league of the most advanced nations, with a
purchasing power parity (PPP) in USD terms at least 4-5 times that of India’s. Today, as
Indian companies take it upon themselves to solve the big challenges posed by climate
change, e-mobility stands to gain the most, as transportation and logistics are integral to a
‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.

Bolstered by intelligent and aware consumers, progressive Government policies, deeply
committed OEMs and manufacturers, a rapidly growing ecosystem, and an unwavering
commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2070, India is not just poised for success in electric
mobility—it's accelerating towards a leadership position on the global EV stage.
