Maruti Suzuki sales dip 8% to 1,43,075 units in August 2024

Maruti Suzuki’s exports rose 6% to 26,003 units, up from 24,614 units in the same month last year.

New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India reported a 4% year-on-year decline in total sales in August, amounting to 1,81,782 units. Last year, in the same month, the company had dispatched 1,89,082 units.

The decline is primarily driven by reduced domestic passenger vehicle wholesales, which fell to 1,43,075 units from 1,56,114 units, an 8% drop.

Sales in the mini segment, including Alto and S-Presso, fell to 10,648 units last month compared to 12,209 units in the previous year. Compact car sales, including models like Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift, saw a 20% decline, registering 58,051 units compared to 72,451 units the previous year.

Utility vehicles, such as Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, Invicto, Fronx, and XL6, had better performance with sales climbing to 62,684 units from 58,746 units a year ago. Sales of Eeco stood at 10,985 units last month, down from 11,859 units in the same period last year.

Light commercial vehicle Super Carry saw a slight drop, with sales at 2,495 units compared to last year’s 2,564 units.
