Gold Star 650
Classic Legends, on the 78th Independence Day, launched the BSA brand of motorcycles in India. BSA makes its India entry with the iconic Gold Star 650 in six models at a starting price of INR 3 lakh. It is available at select dealerships across India from Thursday.

The BSA Gold Star 650, which was reintroduced in the UK in 2021, has achieved success across Europe, Turkey, New Zealand, and the Philippines and is now geared to win over Indian motorcycling enthusiasts. Building on its storied history, BSA is also poised to enter the markets of the US, Australia, and Japan soon.

The Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA), established in 1861, was once the largest motorcycle manufacturer globally and a central figure in British industrial heritage. The brand still enjoys a passionate following.

BSA Gold Star

The BSA Gold Star 650 boasts India’s largest single-cylinder liquid-cooled, 652cc engine. It offers segment-leading features such as 55Nm torque and 45.6PS power, providing the high performance associated with the Gold Star name. Additional best-in-class components include Brembo brakes with dual-channel ABS, aluminum Excel rims, and Pirelli tires. The classic British design is matched with modern features, including digital-analogue instrumentation and six color options, including a Legacy Edition in Silver Sheen.

The new BSA Gold Star leads the brand's expansion to India. The original Gold Star, introduced in Britain in 1938, set various speed records and was a dominant force on racing circuits, earning the moniker "gold standard" for performance motorcycles of its era.

The modern iteration of the BSA Gold Star, which has been precisely crafted, aims to reclaim this legacy. Designed by Redline Studios and engineered by Ricardo, with engine expertise from the Technical University of Graz, the motorcycle merges British engineering heritage with global technical excellence.

Embodying the height of British engineering, the BSA Gold Star incorporates classic design elements and modern features. It is equipped with a 12V socket and USB charging port to keep riders connected during long journeys. The bike's rider-focused design also includes easily adjustable rear shocks for personalized comfort. The commitment to build quality and rigorous attention to detail reflect BSA’s dedication to British craftsmanship and excellence.

To support the new launch, BSA plans to establish a nationwide network of dealerships and service centers across India, ensuring exceptional customer support. The company remains focused on continuous innovation in motorcycle design and technology while preserving its British roots. By collaborating with Indian engineering talent, BSA aims to fuse British tradition with local expertise, creating a custom experience for the Indian market.

Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, emphasized the significance of bringing BSA to India. "Bringing BSA to India is about sharing a piece of world motorcycling history with India. That indomitable spirit of BSA, a brand built in the fires of battle, is imbued in the new Gold Star that I hope all of you have a chance to experience."

Anupam Thareja, co-founder of Classic Legends Pvt Ltd, highlighted the meticulous consideration given to the BSA Gold Star. "The BSA Gold Star embodies the essence of motorcycling excellence. Every detail, from the tank's iconic shape to the engine's big single character, has been meticulously crafted to capture the spirit of BSA's golden age while delivering the performance, reliability, and innovation that define a global brand. We've poured our hearts into ensuring it lives up to the storied legacy that has set the gold standard for generations worldwide."
