New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India reported retail sales of 4572 units in July 2024. More than 35% of those sales were from new energy vehicles (NEVs), highlighting the strong customer acceptance of their electric and hybrid cars.

MG Motor, known for pioneering electric vehicles in India, has a diverse portfolio including models like Hector, Gloster, ZS EV, Astor, and Comet. The company's repositioning strategy, which includes customization options for customers, has boosted sales of their Comet model. Half a year ago, MG was selling around 400 Comet units monthly, but in July, this figure rose to approximately 900 units.

“Making it the first OEM in India to power its 40% through electric cars, our EV volume contributed almost 40% of our total monthly volume in June and a month before it was 35%,” said Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Business Officer at Morris Garages India to ETAuto.

Looking ahead, the carmaker is preparing for the launch of India's first Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) during the upcoming festive season. This new model aims to further strengthen MG's presence in the Indian market.
