New Delhi: Suzuki Motorcycle India has initiated a large-scale recall of nearly 4 lakh vehicles across various models due to safety concerns. The affected models include Access 125, Avenis 125, Burgman 125, and V-strom 800DE.

The Access 125, with a total of 2,63,788 recalled vehicles, was manufactured between April 30, 2022, and December 3, 2022. The issue lies in the installation of a high-tension cord that did not meet drawing requirements, leading to cracks and breakages from repeated engine oscillation. This defect can cause engine stalls and starting failures. Additionally, exposure to water can damage the vehicle speed sensor and throttle position sensor, resulting in speed display failure or starting issues.

Similarly, the Avenis 125, with 52,578 units affected, and the Burgman 125, with 72,045 units, manufactured during the same period, face the same high-tension cord issue. The repeated bending caused by engine oscillation leads to cracks and breakages, potentially causing engine stalls. Water exposure can further damage critical sensors, affecting the overall operation of the vehicles.

The V-strom 800DE, with 67 recalled units, manufactured between May 5, 2023, and April 23, 2024, faces a different issue. These motorcycles may have been equipped with a rear tire that could develop cracks or other deformations in the tire tread. Prolonged use could lead to tread separation from the tire structure, impacting overall vehicle dynamics and safety.
