Tata Punch overtakes Maruti Swift as the top selling car model in June 2024

According to the data of SIAM passenger vehicle industry observed a 3% growth at 3.7 lakh units, with Punch, Swift, Creta, and Ertiga in the top slots.

The automotive manufacturers are vying with one another in offering discounts and other sops to boost sales and to have their models among the top-ten sellers. According to the data of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) passenger vehicle industry observed a 3% growth at 3.7 lakh units, with Punch, Swift, Creta, and Ertiga in the top slots.

Tata Punch has revived its top selling car model position with 18,238 units sold in June 2024 surpassing Maruti Swift which was dominating in May 2024. For a few months, Tata Punch has consistently been in the list of best selling vehicles, due to the affordable pricing, advanced features and Bharat NCAP 5 star safety rating.

Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the third largest automobile market with retaining 6 spots in the top 10 best-selling car model list.

Maruti Swift which ruled in May 2024 was at the second position with 16,422 units in June 2024, though with a drop of 16% M-o-M, as per autopunditz data. Closely behind, with a marginal difference, was Hyundai Creta at the third position with sales of 16,293 units in June with a growth of 12% (M-o-M). Maruti Suzuki managed to secure the next 5 spots starting with Ertiga which recorded an increase of 15% (M-o-M) and was at the fourth position with sales of 15,902 units in June 2024.

Maruti Baleno and the New WagonR were at the fifth and sixth positions with 14,895 units and 13,790 units respectively in June 2024. Maruti Dzire and Viatara Brezza were at the seventh and eighth positions in the top 10 list with 13,421 units and 13,172 units sold in June 2024 respectively.

Mahindra managed to secure the ninth position in the top 10 list with sales of 12,307 units of the Scorpio model, in spite of an 11% drop (M-o-M) in June. Tata Nexon was at 10th slot with sales of 12,066 units in the same month.
