Despite baggage of op costs, revenues of e-bus sector accelerate from INR 2.4 cr to INR 29.1 cr

KTC has acquired fifty 12-metre e-buses under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) II scheme.
For the electric bus sector, revenues have risen from INR 3.9 crore to INR 4.7 crore from FY 2021-22 to FY 2024-25 (till June 2024). Starting at INR 2.4 crore in FY 2021-22, payments for electric buses surged to INR 29.1 crore in FY 2022-23. The data was tabled by the transport minister in the assembly.

KTC has acquired fifty 12-metre e-buses under the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) II scheme. Also, 48 EVs (five 7-metre, five 12-metre, and thirty-eight 9-metre buses) have been purchased with Smart City and 60th Liberation Day celebration funds.

A letter of approval for 100 e-buses had been handed to Evey Trans Pvt Ltd with delivery set for Nov 2022. Only five buses have been received, with the rest expected by this Nov. EV charging locations are at KTC Margao depot and Campal. Other infrastructure projects by EV Trans (IDR) Pvt Ltd and Vyagrah City Bus Operation Pvt Ltd are under way in Panaji and at Porvorim depot.
