Tata Elxsi and Emerson have inaugurated the Tata Elxsi + NI Mobility Innovation Centre (TENMIC) in Bengaluru to accelerate automotive innovation by providing cutting-edge systems, software solutions, and global automotive expertise. The new centre aims to support the rapidly evolving automotive industry with advancements in software-defined vehicles (SDVs), autonomous driving technologies, electric vehicle (EV) systems, and batteries through a combination of virtual and physical testing, the company said in a media release.

The launch event was attended by Manoj Raghavan, MD & CEO of Tata Elxsi, Ritu Favre, President of the Test and Measurement Business Group at Emerson, and Drita Roggenbuck, VP & GM of the Transportation Business Unit at Emerson. Senior technology and R&D leaders from global OEMs, major automotive suppliers, and semiconductor companies were also present, highlighting the importance of TENMIC in enhancing automotive development and innovation.

TENMIC is strategically designed to address the transformation in the automotive industry brought about by the integration of digital technologies and the rise of SDVs. The need for rapid innovation to develop, validate, and release new features swiftly while ensuring reliability, safety, and performance is a key focus of the centre. The centre enables OEMs to 'shift left' by validating performance and functionality through both virtual and physical testing before production. Automation, agility, and the use of data and AI-led methodologies play crucial roles in this approach, significantly impacting the product development lifecycle.

TENMIC combines Emerson’s expertise in Test & Measurement technologies with Tata Elxsi's strengths in automotive engineering, data analytics, and digitalisation. This collaboration aims to provide comprehensive automated solutions that support advancements in the automotive sector, including SDVs, autonomous driving, and EV systems and batteries, the company said.

“India is emerging as a global hub for next-generation automotive development with the presence of global R&D centres of the entire mobility ecosystem from OEMs to silicon vendors. The shift in vehicle E/E architecture, electrification, and connectivity is driving the need for advanced software development and testing capabilities," said Shaju S., Vice President and Head of the Transportation Business Unit at Tata Elxsi.

"Bengaluru, where both Tata Elxsi and Emerson’s Test & Measurement business are headquartered in India, offers the combined global expertise of the two companies to the entire world while enabling proximity to the thriving R&D ecosystem of global OEMs, suppliers, and technology companies in India. Our partnership with Emerson aims to drive innovation, design, and development, leveraging global expertise to create immense value for our clients," he added.

Shitendra Bhattacharya, director of Emerson’s Test and Measurement Business in India & ASEAN, stated, “Our partnership with Tata Elxsi to establish this mobility innovation centre for the automotive sector will enable rapid advancements in automotive technologies and validation, driving the industry forward and redefining the possibilities within the mobility landscape.”

TENMIC represents a significant step in the collaboration between Tata Elxsi and Emerson, emphasising the continuous growth and development in automotive technologies. The new centre is set to play a pivotal role in the global automotive industry's ongoing transformation.
