Rajeev Chauhan
Rajeev Chauhan has been appointed as the Vice President of the Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India, succeeding Sanjay Gopalakrishnan who retired after over three decades in the Indian automotive industry. Chauhan, with more than 25 years of experience at companies like Honda Cars India and Volvo Car India, will now lead BYD India's electric passenger vehicle division, the company said in a media release.

Chauhan has a track record of driving innovative strategies in retail networks, customer experience, electrification, direct sales, product development, customer service, and digital transformation. His efforts in optimizing retail capacity have redefined customer experiences, increased market share, created a profitable dealer network, and boosted company profitability.

"The world is at the cusp of a brighter and more sustainable future. And BYD has been playing a stellar role in this progress towards a greener tomorrow. It is my honour to be a part of this journey where we can together make sustainable technologies and sustainable motoring more accessible to Indian consumers," said Rajeev Chauhan, Vice President, Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India.

Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, the outgoing Senior Vice President, Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, reflected on his career and retirement. "I consider it my good fortune to have worked, learnt and grown in what I think to be one of the most dynamic and exciting industries in India and the world. I can’t ask for a better way to bow out than to retire at the pinnacle of eco-sensitive, sustainable motoring, which is the blueprint for the future,” he stated.

BYD has recently maintained its position among the top-10 in the Kantar BrandZ Global Automotive Brands rankings for 2024, marking the second consecutive year it has featured in these prestigious rankings with a brand value exceeding USD 10 billion. In 2023, BYD's global car sales surpassed 3.02 million units, bringing its total NEV sales to over 7.6 million units.

In India, BYD offers the e6 electric MPV, the ATTO 3 electric SUV, and their latest luxury electric sedan, the BYD SEAL. The SEAL boasts a range of up to 650 kms and can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in up to 3.8 seconds. It is equipped with Cell To Body (CTB) technology and ADAS Level 2, along with 9 airbags and other advanced features.

Chauhan's extensive experience and strategic vision are expected to further strengthen BYD India's presence in the electric vehicle market, as the company continues to expand its footprint and make sustainable motoring more accessible to Indian consumers.
