New Delhi: Ather Energy, a prominent electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, has announced plans to establish its third manufacturing plant in Bidkin, AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. This facility will produce electric two-wheelers and battery packs, aiming to reduce logistics costs and expedite product deliveries across the country.

Ather Energy currently operates two manufacturing facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. One facility is dedicated to battery production while the other focuses on vehicle assembly. These existing plants will continue their operations even as the new plant in Maharashtra comes online. The new location is strategically chosen to get closer to more markets and enhance distribution efficiency.

Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, emphasized the state's favorable business environment, highlighting Maharashtra's position as a leading hub for automotive and manufacturing industries. "Maharashtra offers a conducive business environment and continues to be a top destination for investments. This is in line with our honourable PM Narendra Modi’s vision to strengthen India’s startup and manufacturing ecosystem, aiming to match or surpass global counterparts. We are happy to have Ather in Maharashtra, solidifying the state’s position as India’s leading automotive and manufacturing hub.”

Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Ather Energy, expressed gratitude towards the support from the Tamil Nadu government and underscored the need for expanding production capabilities. "Since 2021, our facilities in Hosur have been serving as our national manufacturing hub, catering to the demand across the country. With the support of the Tamil Nadu government and a strong supplier base, the existing facilities remain crucial for Ather."

"With our expanding product portfolio and the increasing consumer demand for our scooters, we decided to strategically diversify our production capabilities to an additional location that will be closer to more markets in the country. The new manufacturing facility will not only rationalise our logistic cost but will also hasten the delivery of finished products to our customers. We are thankful to the Maharashtra government and its policies that foster EV manufacturing and growth,” Jain added.

The demand for electric two-wheelers in India is on the rise, and Ather Energy is focusing on scaling its production capacity. The company is also expanding its product portfolio, retail outlets, and charging infrastructure nationwide. Currently, Ather operates over 200 Experience Centres and maintains over 1900 fast chargers, known as Ather Grids, across India.

Ather’s lineup includes the 450 platform scooters - the 450X, 450S, and 450 Apex. Recently, Ather launched its first family scooter, Rizta, designed for comfort, convenience, and safety in family use. The Rizta features a spacious seat, ample boot space, and safety technologies such as SkidControlTM, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Theft & Tow Detection, and Ping My Scooter.

The Rizta S model is equipped with a 2.9 kWh battery and offers an Indian Driving Conditions (IDC) range of 123 kilometers. Additionally, the Rizta Z variant comes in two options: one with a 2.9 kWh battery providing an IDC range of 123 kilometers, and another with a 3.7 kWh battery offering an IDC range of 159 kilometers.
