Uber introduces Uber Green EV services in Kolkata

Uber Green allows residents to book zero-emission rides easily through the Uber app, facilitating sustainable travel across the city.
Uber announced the launch of its flagship electric vehicle service, Uber Green, in Kolkata on Thursday, joining Snap E in offering eco-friendly transportation options in the city. This initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable travel and reducing carbon emissions.

With this launch, Uber has taken a significant step toward enhancing air quality in Kolkata. West Bengal Transport Minister Snehasis Chakraborty remarked, "Enhancing the air quality in Kolkata is a shared duty we all must embrace. I commend Uber for introducing 'Uber Green' in Kolkata, a significant step towards reducing carbon emissions in our city."

Uber Green allows residents to book zero-emission rides easily through the Uber app, facilitating sustainable travel across the city. This includes routes to and from Kolkata international airport.

The company has not disclosed details regarding the number of vehicles under Uber Green or specific expansion plans for the service in Kolkata. However, Uber has committed to becoming a zero-emissions mobility platform by 2030 in Europe and North America, with a global target set for 2040. According to the company, EV drivers on Uber are adopting electric vehicles five times faster than the general public.
