New Delhi: iVOOMi Energy, a leading e-mobility brand in India, has partnered with Mechanic (Repairing Shops) Association, an automobile training organization, to empower garage owners across Maharashtra.

In this first-of-its-kind partnership, the association and iVOOMi will train over 2500 garage owners over the next 6 months around the essential skills and knowledge to repair and maintain electric scooters. Post-training, these garages will be certified by iVOOMi Energy. The company will also extend engineering, technical, and spare parts support to these garages to provide trusted post-sales service to iVOOMi consumers.

Currently, 17 garage owners in Pune, Maharashtra, have already commenced training under this program, with many more set to follow suit. The comprehensive training program covers various aspects of the EV business, including: Fundamentals of Electric Vehicles; The Future Need of Electric Vehicles; Different EV Parts; Battery Technology and Maintenance; Troubleshooting Techniques; Scheduled Maintenance Procedures; and EV Sales, Service, and Spare Parts Business, the company said in a media release.

Ashwin Bhandari, co-founder and CEO, iVOOMi Energy, said, "Electric two-wheelers are leading the e-mobility adoption charter in India, as well as around the world. However, the shortage of quality after-sales service touchpoints has been a hindrance. A strong after-sales service network builds trust among existing and potential consumers. It will also help India transition to green mobility. By collaborating with the association, we are not just expanding our after-sales support system but also investing to build the future of e-mobility in India.”

Santosh Pawar, Vice President of the association, said, “This partnership will upskill thousands of garage owners and mechanics with the knowledge and skills to cater to the growing demand for EV maintenance services. Going forward, these garage owners and mechanics will not only be able to earn a higher livelihood but also contribute to the acceleration of a greener future. We are hopeful that the success of this program will inspire the other OEMs to play their part in bringing up the EV maintenance and repair ecosystem in India.”

In addition to training, participating garage owners are incentivized with referral bonuses for encouraging other garages to join the program, thereby fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment, the release added.
