Erin Ward, the Nebraska substitute teacher who was caught naked in a car with one of her students, is married to Doug Ward, a high-ranking federal government employee, the New York Post and Daily Mail said citing records and social media accounts.
Erin Ward, the 45-year-old teacher confessed to having sex with the 17-year-old boy, in the back of the car and has been charged with felony sexual abuse by a school employee.
The boy, who sped off after being confronted by the cops and fled in his underwear after crashing the car, was also detained by the cops. The boy is a student at Burke High School where she worked as a substitute teacher.
She is also being accused of cheating on her husband, who is a director at the US Department of Defense. Erin shares three children with Doug and the family hails from Gretna, Louisiana.
Her Harvard-educated husband has worked for nearly two decades with the US Strategic Command at the Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. The US Strategic Command is one of the eleven unified combatant commands within the Defense Department.
He was promoted to the deputy director of the commander’s action group in February. He is also highly-educated and has degrees from the University of Illinois, Bellevue University and Harvard Extension School and is completing his doctorate in defence and strategic studies at Missouri State University.
His wife, Erin Ward, was arrested early Saturday morning after Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies received a call regarding a suspicious car parked on a dead-end street.
When cops arrived at the scene, they saw Erin naked with the partially clothed teen in the backseat of the car she shared with her husband.
The boy sped off and fled but was later detained while Erin Ward remained in the car and confessed to sleeping with the boy. Police later said that she worked for Omaha Public Schools and substituted at various schools in the area.
The teen being above the age of consent in Nebraska (which is 16) led to Erin escaping statutory rape charges but she now faces felony count of sexual abuse by a school employee.
