Apple has sent out a new warning for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch users across the globe. The Indian govt has issued its own alert for these users in the country via its security agency this week. The latest warning has been termed as high risk by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) in its May 20 security bulletin. These security warnings are informing people to stay alert about possible intrusive attacks from bad actors and also asking them to update their software right away.

Apple iPhone And iPad CERT-In Security Warning: What It Says

The CERT-In warning highlights the inherent risk posed by the security issues which affects those using an iPhone, iPad, Macbook, Apple Watch or even the Apple TV. “Multiple vulnerabilities were identified in Apple products. A remote attacker could exploit some of these vulnerabilities to trigger elevation of privilege, sensitive information disclosure, security restriction bypass and remote code execution on the targeted system,” the bulletin says.

Apple Security Alert From CERT-In: Which Devices Affected

If you have iPhones, iPad, or Macs running on the versions highlighted here, Apple will ask you to update at the earliest:

– Apple iOS versions prior to 16.7.8

– Apple iPadOS versions prior to 16.7.8

– Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.5

– Apple macOS Monterey versions prior to 12.7.5

– Apple macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.6.7

– Apple macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.5

– Apple watchOS versions prior to 10.5

– Apple Safari versions prior to 17.5

– Apple tvOS versions prior to 17.5

As you can see from this exhaustive list, all the major Apple devices are affected and the versions mentioned here are still used by millions. iOS 17.5 is the latest version which means all the iPhone users who updated earlier this week also need to be mindful of possible attacks.
