OpenAI continues to update ChatGPT with a slew of new features. This time, OpenAI has announced a new update for its signature Large Language Model (LLM) chatbot, ChatGPT. According to OpenAI, the new update will allow users to import files directly from external cloud drives, including Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive. ChatGPT will analyse the Python codes of the uploaded files/documents to understand the data.

With the integration of this update, users will be relieved of the pressure to download files on their desktop and then upload them to ChatGPT. This also allows ChatGPT to understand and analyse your Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files more quickly. The update comes after Open AI unveiled GPT-4o earlier this week.

The tech giant also stated that this update will only be available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users. All subscribers, including GPT 4o and older models, will be able to access this feature in the coming weeks.

The video published by OpenAI on its official X account gives a sneak peek at how this feature works. On the left side of the bar, there is a paperclip sign, which indicates attachment. Users need to click on it, which will open up a list of options asking them to choose between options such as ‘connect to Google Drive’, ‘Connect to Microsoft OneDrive’, or ‘Upload from the computer’.

In the video, it was specified that the user would need a go-head from the respective profiles. Once access is granted, the user will be able to choose a range of files/documents to import.

With this new update, the AI-generated chatbot will be able to perform diverse tasks for its users. OpenAI stated, “You can now customise and interact with bar, line, pie, and scatter plot charts in the conversation. Hover over chart elements, ask additional questions, or select colors. When ready, download to use in presentations or documents.”

Other than the import feature, OpenAI has announced a new partnership with Reddit to enhance its content with ChatGPT across multiple platforms. This collaboration will benefit users by helping them discover and engage with Reddit communities. It also indicates Reddit’s efforts to diversify its revenue streams beyond advertising, as AI features will be available to Reddit users and OpenAI will become a Reddit advertising partner.
