Apple has grown big time under the helm of Tim Cook for many years but the company has to plan for the future and a new report this week talks about the possible successor to Cook which could happen in the next few years. The report from Bloomberg takes a closer look at the people who could take over from Cook but two names seem to be in prominence in this planning.

Life After Tim Cook: Why Is Apple Planning Already?

Tim Cook has been the Apple CEO for more than 13 years since 2011 and he turns 64 years this year, which means the company has to start eyeing younger executives who can lead the brand into the new era. Keeping that in mind, the report looks at Jeff Williams, COO, Apple, who has been tipped to replace Cook at the helm.

However, Williams turns 61 this year which means he is only three years younger to Cook, and Apple is unlikely to start the new era with a short term appointee in mind. So, that brings us to the next and the most likely contender to succeed Cook, which is John Ternus, one of the senior heads of hardware engineering at Apple.

He is 49 years old, so that is a big reason for him to be considered for the position. He has become a lot more visible within the company and is claimed to be well-liked in the company, especially by Cook, Eddy Cue and more, which is a good sign for the executive.

Cook Going Away Anytime Soon?

However, the report also points out that Cook could stay for another three years, which means, Ternus or any other person being groomed to replace as the chief of Apple has enough time to pick up the traits and also get a closer look at the company which was not possible earlier.

Every business has to plan for the future and even if Cook stays for a few more years, Apple has to start the transition process at least by shortlisting the right people for the role. Cook had big boots to fill when he took over from Steve Jobs, and the next Apple executive will be entrusted to spearhead from the post-Cook era with more success in its wing.
