Nothing is making big headways in the market but all this popularity is making it a prime target for bad actors. Recently, it was reported that Nothing has seen its customer data leak, which straight away raises concerns about its security and privacy of users. The details of Nothing Community profiles of many members were exposed, as per reports which obviously got people worried.
The dataset allegedly includes details like email ID, their usernames and their comments which one might say are not exactly that damaging. And the company has now confirmed the situation, and shared the details about the supposed breach and assured its customers that their data is secure.
Nothing has been quoted talking about a data breach that was discovered in December 2022 and it took immediate action to fix the loophole and strengthen its security.
“In December 2022, Nothing discovered a vulnerability, which impacted email addresses belonging to community members at the time. No names, personal addresses, passwords, or payment information were compromised. Upon this discovery nearly a year and half ago, Nothing took immediate action to remedy the situation and bolster its security features,” Nothing was quoted saying in a report here.
The fact that no home address, password or payment details were exposed in the breach means customers can feel relieved about the development which did happen over 1.5 years back and the company got it resolved quickly to avoid any major lapse in its system.
While this episode is closed for Nothing, the company is preparing for its next big launch of 2024 which will most likely be the Nothing Phone 3. The Phone 3 from Nothing is shaping up to be another mid-ranger, but this year’s model could possibly be available at a lower price, which will get people excited for the new product.
Nothing Phone 3 launch is expected around Q2 2024 which usually comes in July and that’s when Nothing has launched its new Phone model.
