OpenAI has good news for ChatGPT users, as the artificial intelligence (AI) firm has rolled out access to custom GPTs, its mini chatbots designed for a specific purpose, globally. Users can also ask the chatbot to analyse charts, ask questions about images, and use features introduced earlier this month with GPT-4o.

Moreover, those on the free tier of ChatGPT can interact with and use these new GPT-4o-powered functionalities for specific tasks. The company’s chatbots can assist users with writing, research and analysis, productivity, programming, or just having conversations in specific styles.

The Indian Express, in its report, mentioned that OpenAI said GPT-4o is a multimodal large language model (LLM) compared to GPT-4. It is much faster and improves existing text, audio, and vision capabilities. The company’s CTO, Mira Murati, on the other hand, said that the model will be available for free users in the coming days.

Users can use GPT-4o features like vision, memory, and data analytics and upload files for analysis. This model also lowers the latency when using voice to interact with the AI chatbot. It is worth noting that GPTs are not general conversation chatbots like ChatGPT. They will not be able to answer a wide range of queries, and they often have a limited scope. However, users can get more accurate answers as the new chatbot acts like small language models.

GPT-4o is also capable of understanding things like tone and background noises, providing multilingual support, and even inserting emotions into its voice.

While ChatGPT users on the free tier can use the new chatbot, OpenAI says paid subscribers will have “up to five times the capacity limits” of free users. Once users exhaust their GPT-4o limits, ChatGPT will automatically convert to GPT-3.5 to continue the conversation.

While there is a large catalogue to choose from, a few interesting options one can try are Adobe Express to design social flyers, posts, and more. The chatbot can also generate images with specific text requests. Another useful tool is Khan Academy’s Tutor Me chatbot, which helps users with science, math, and humanities homework by assisting them through the problems instead of solving them.

Other interesting GPTs are Canva, Cartoonize Yourself, Code Copilot, as well as Data Analyst and Planty by OpenAI. In another major update, the tech giant announced that it has formed a new ‘Safety and Security Committee’ led by CEO Sam Altman. Moreover, the company informed that they are now working on a new AI model, which is touted to be GPT-5.
