'Free Agent' Becky Lynch Receives Invitation From Ex-WWE Star Zack Ryder to Attend GCW Live Event

WWE diva Becky Lynch could soon be making her way out of the company having received an invitation from another wrestling promotion. For weeks, there have been strong speculations about Lynch’s future in WWE. The rumours grew stronger after Lynch’s contract with the WWE expired on June 1.

This led to ex-WWE superstar Matt Cardona sending an invitation to her for a live wrestling event. Cardona is currently the General Manager of GCW. On Friday, he sent out a post on X, requesting Lynch to attend his company’s Cage of Survival event this weekend. “As GCW General manager, I am personally inviting the diva to GC Wrestling Cage of Survival this Sunday,” he replied to a post that confirmed Becky’s contract expiration.

This is the first time in more than a decade that Lynch is a free agent. This news doesn’t necessarily put an end to Becky’s career with the WWE. The company has already expressed their desire to retain their female superstar. The Irish-American wrestler has preferred not to sign with her previous employer as of yet. The delay in the contract renewal is majorly due to Becky’s wish to take some time off wrestling action. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio gave his insight into the situation saying that the diva’s hiatus could last a while. This is what he said as per TJR Wrestling, “Becky Lynch didn’t renew. Becky Lynch is taking an extended leave. From what I was told it’s not a short period of time, she was looking for a long period of time out.”

Meltzer talked about how the absence made more sense because Lynch’s husband Seth Rollins was also out of action due to an injury. “It’s probably – if he’s [Seth Rollins who is currently out injured] not on the road, it makes sense for her not to be on the road,” Meltzer concluded.

As for Cardona, the ex-wrestler used to be a known figure in the WWE. He was popularly known by his in-ring name Zack Ryder. Cardona was amongst the many names to be released from the company in April 2020. In the last few years, the ex-WWE star has established himself as the sought-after name on the independent circuit. He also made a few appearances in the AEW recently. Cardona now has his eyes set on bringing Lynch to GCW wrestling. If the deal were to materialise, it would be a massive update in the wrestling world.
