The summer vacation is finally here. The children are trying to find their pastime activities. In this technological era, when it comes to spending holidays, children become ignorant of all outdoor activities. They start spending time on electronic gadgets including smartphones, tablets and laptops. This excessive use is not only deteriorating their physical health, but is also taking a toll on their mental well-being. Parents are also unable to give their full attention to their children due to work and other household commitments. In such a situation, it becomes necessary for you as a parent to introduce your kid to outdoor activities and games to keep them engaged without using a mobile phone. Let us take a look at some of the activities which can help you distract your kid from electronic gadgets.

Scavenger Hunt:

You can blindfold your children and encourage them to touch and find stones, soft cloth or fluffy cloth. A list of the items will be given to your children in advance. After placing the object in their hand, ask them about the name, shape and object.

Fabric Piece Colour

You can give your kids a few pieces of fabric colour to coordinate it with the name of the colour. This activity engages their senses and improves intelligence. They will learn new words by identifying different structures. It will increase their vocabulary.

Bubble Play Art Gallery

Set up a bubble play art gallery at home and ask children to create an art piece using bubbles. You can also create unique patterns with bubbles of different colours on large sheets of paper or canvas.

Board Game

Ask your kids to make board games that you can play as a family. Through this children will learn colours and shapes. Set up a wheel (spin-wheel) and put arrows on it and tell them to find the colour or shape in which the arrow stands after spinning it. This will enhance their problem-solving skills, teamwork and brainstorming skills.

Party Table

Through the party table, you can teach them lunch/dinner/breakfast etiquette by asking them to set the table themselves. As a result, children will learn how to serve food and develop healthy eating habits.
