Jennifer Lopez made a dazzling statement in a shimmery Schiaparelli silhouette at the Met Gala 2024 hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on May 6.

As the co-chair of Met Gala 2024, along with Zendaya, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer made her presence felt on the green and white carpet. Envisioned by Daniel Roseberry, creative director of Schiaparelli, the dress was designed using four butterfly wings enlarged to cover the whole surface of the dress. Sharing the details of the outfit, celebrity stylist Mariel Haenn says, “Much more than flowers, the butterfly symbolises metamorphosis. Transformation. Something that was asleep that wakes up beautiful, powerful and new.”

The intricate detailing and the representation of butterfly wings resonated with the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion theme of the exhibition. “The butterfly is a perfect articulation of a sleeping beauty. Something that goes to sleep and wakes up beautiful also still lives in a garden without being a flower. The butterfly and idea of metamorphosis has been part of Schiaparelli’s DNA since the beginning,” add Mariel.

The structured bodice resembling the butterfly wings and the train adding drama to Jennifer’s style made this a sparkling piece of art at the Met Gala 2024. Jennifer accessorised with diamond jewellery from Tiffany & Co.

Dressed in an array of styles resonating with the Met Gala 2024 official dress code – The Garden of Time were celebrities including Alia Bhatt, Zendaya, Cardi B, Kim Kardashian, Lana Del Rey, Ariana Grande, Mindy Kaling, Gigi Hadid, Natasha Poonawalla, Elle Fanning, Amanda Seyfried, Kendall Jenner, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Demi Moore, Lily James, Janelle Monae, Lewis Hamilton, Camila Mendes, Nicki Minaj, Sydney Sweeney, Camila Cabello, Sabrina Carpenter, Taraji P Henson.

The charity event and fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, The Met Gala is traditionally timed to mark the opening of the museum’s annual fashion exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 10 to September 2, 2024.
