Chaitra Navratri 2024 Day 7: Significance

It is said that worshipping the Goddess Kalaratri removes the malefic effects of the planets in a person’s life and brings good fortune. The Goddess blesses her devotees with whatever they ask from her, removes obstacles and brings good fortune.

Drik Panchang says, “Though Goddess Kalaratri is the most ferocious form of Goddess Parvati, she blesses her devotees with Abhaya and Varada Mudras. Because of her Shubh or auspicious power in her ferocious form, Goddess Kalaratri is also known as Goddess Shubhankari.”

The skin colour of Goddess Kalaratri is dark black and she rides on a donkey. She is depicted with four hands. The right hands are in Abhaya and Varada Mudra. In her left hand, however, she carries the sword and the iron hook.
