The Basalt’s performance in these tests highlighted its advanced safety features, including six airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, 3-point seatbelts, seatbelt reminders for all seats, and ISOFIX child seat anchors—all standard across variants.

Citroen India has announced that its new SUV Coupe, the Citroen Basalt, has achieved a 4-star rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP), demonstrating the company's dedication to vehicle safety.

The Citroen Basalt stands out in the Indian automotive market with its robust and intelligently engineered body structure, built to provide optimal collision protection. It features a blend of high-strength steel, Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) to efficiently manage front and side impacts while minimizing cabin intrusion, the company said in a media release.

Shishir Mishra, Brand Director Citroen India said, "We take immense pride in Citroen Basalt’s 4-Star rating from Bharat NCAP. This achievement is a testament to our unwavering commitment to ensuring safety is at the forefront of our design philosophy. The Basalt’s impressive safety credentials empower our customers to drive confidently and securely."

"As the safety discussion evolves among Indian car buyers, we are proud to drive ahead, ensuring that the safety of our customers remains our top priority. We are optimistic that this recognition will reinforce the Basalt's appeal and establish it as a preferred choice in the market," he added.

The stringent Bharat NCAP testing subjects vehicles to a series of demanding crash tests. The Basalt’s performance in these tests highlighted its advanced safety features, including six airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, 3-point seatbelts, seatbelt reminders for all seats, and ISOFIX child seat anchors—all standard across variants.

The Citroën Basalt, with over 40 active and passive safety features, is designed to provide a secure and confident driving experience. The vehicle’s safety features work together to uphold Citroën’s commitment to safety, making it a strong contender in the competitive market, the company said.

The 4-star rating from Bharat NCAP not only endorses the Basalt’s safety standards but also reinforces Citroën’s ongoing dedication to innovation and quality. Citroën India’s focus on safety ensures that every vehicle, including the Basalt, offers the highest standards of safety and driving pleasure, the company added.
