Clean Energy Ministerial drive towards clean energy
The Clean Energy Ministerial promotes policies and programs that advance clean energy technology, facilitating the sharing of lessons learned and best practices with the goal of encouraging a global clean energy transition. Through their energy management system, Apollo Tyres' team adhered to the global ISO 50001 standard, showcasing the process and benefits to the Energy Management Leadership Awards program of CEM.
Apollo Tyres' sustainability targets
Apollo Tyres is aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and is working on various sustainability initiatives. Their goals include improving Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission intensity by 25% by 2026, based on a 2020 baseline, increasing the share of renewable power in their total power usage to 25% by 2026, and improving water withdrawal intensity by 25% by 2026 compared to a 2019 baseline.
“Dedicated teams and investments are being made in energy-saving initiatives and towards renewable energy to be prepared for the future and to contribute towards a decarbonised tomorrow,” the company stated.
The company also aims to increase the use of sustainable raw materials to 40% by 2030 and is committed to enhancing its diversity and inclusion (D&I) metrics to 12% globally by 2026.
“Team Apollo Tyres shared insights on the process and benefits of setting up an energy management system by enabling system adherence through the implementation of the global ISO 50001 standard,” the statement added.
