BSL to set up two Greenfield steel units.
Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has unveiled plans for the establishment of two Greenfield steel units, each with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). However, BSL’s focus is on a brownfield project aimed at increasing its crude steel production from the existing 4.66 MTPA to 7.61 MTPA by 2030.

Director in-charge of BSL Birendra Kumar Tiwari, said the first phase of expansion involves enhancing production through a brownfield project in the existing plant.

“While we have the capacity to install two Greenfield projects, each with a capacity of 5 MTPA, our focus is on the brownfield phase. We plan to invest in Greenfield after generating revenue from brownfield. BSL will focus on boosting production in next five years and use the profit to finance Greenfield.”
