Citroen has launched Basalt at an introductory price starting at INR 7.99 Lakh with deliveries set to begin next month.

Customers can choose from five monotone colours: Garnet Red, Cosmo Blue, Polar White, Platinum Grey, and Steel Grey. Additionally, black dual-tone roof options are available with Polar White and Garnet Red. Personalization is encouraged with over 70 accessories to choose from.

Additionally, the quarter saw the expansion of its global footprint, with exports now making up 12% of its engineering revenue, particularly to the U.S. and the European Union. The company also emphasized its focus on developing e-powertrains.

Meanwhile, the Citroen Basalt is turning heads with its bold proportions and smooth, flowing lines, giving it a sense of constant motion. Its seamless roofline and expansive tailgate not only enhance accessibility but also maintain a sleek coupe silhouette. Elegant colour accents near the rear windows and front bumper add a touch of sophistication, aligning perfectly with Citroen's distinctive design DNA.

"The Citroen Basalt captivates with its bold proportions and smooth, flowing lines, conveying a constant sense of motion. Its seamless roofline and expansive tailgate enhance accessibility while preserving the sleek coupe silhouette. Elegant color accents near the rear windows and front bumper add a sophisticated touch, perfectly aligning with Citroen's distinctive design DNA," the company said.

The front end of the Basalt is assertive, featuring Citroen's signature rounded design. It boasts a high, horizontal bonnet with concave indentations. The trademark chrome chevrons stretch across the width of the body and seamlessly integrate with Citroen's LED Vision Projector lighting technology to enhance its high-tech credentials and ensure maximum visibility. The Y-shaped LED daytime running lights further accentuate the bonnet's clamshell design, adding to its striking presence.

"The Basalt's assertive front end features Citroen's signature rounded design, with a high, horizontal bonnet marked by concave indentations. Trademark chrome chevrons stretch across the width of the body, seamlessly integrating with Citroen's LED Vision Projector lighting technology to enhance the Basalt's high-tech credentials and ensure maximum visibility. The Y-shaped LED daytime running lights further emphasize the bonnet's clamshell design, adding to its striking presence," the company said in a media release.

Focusing on technology, the Citroen Basalt is geared towards modern drivers. The vehicle features a 26 cm Citroen Connect In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system with seamless Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. It also includes a 17.7 cm Intelli-Smart Driver Information System that keeps crucial driving data within easy reach. For added convenience, the Basalt is equipped with three USB ports and a 15-watt Smart Wireless Charger, ensuring devices stay powered and secure. The MyCitroen Connect feature offers 40 smart functionalities, including remote start/stop, pre-cooling, and intrusion alerts, keeping occupants connected with the Basalt at all times.

"The Citroen Basalt is well equipped with technology features designed for modern drivers. At its core is the 26 cm Citroen Connect In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system, offering seamless Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Complementing this is the 17.7 cm Intelli-Smart Driver Information System, ensuring that essential driving data is always within easy reach," the release added.

"For added convenience, the Basalt includes 3 USB ports and a 15-watt Smart Wireless Charger, ensuring your devices stay powered and secure. The MyCitroen Connect feature offers 40 smart features, including remote start/stop, pre-cooling, and intrusion alerts, keeping the occupants connected with the Basalt at all times."

In terms of comfort, the Citroen Basalt redefines the segment with its class-leading wheelbase of 2651 mm, resulting in one of the largest cabin spaces available. There’s substantial legroom of up to 980 mm for second-row passengers. The Basalt also introduces the Smart Tilt Cushion, offering enhanced thigh support adjustment up to 87 mm. Another first-in-segment is the Advanced Comfort headrest, which provides lateral head support for rear passengers, making longer journeys more comfortable.

To ensure comfort in extreme weather, the Basalt is equipped with a Tropicalized Auto Climate Control system, offering best-in-class cooling. Rear seat passengers can control airflow via vents located in the rear centre console.

Key advanced safety features include six airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Control, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Engine Stop/Start technology, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
