Kia India has also expanded its presence across the nation with a network of 588 touchpoints in 256 cities.
Kia India, marking its fifth year of operations in the country, has achieved a significant milestone of 1 million unit sales in the domestic market. This achievement, reached within just 59 months, underscores the brand's rapid growth in India. The Kia Seltos has been the company's flagship model, contributing over 48% to total domestic sales, while the Sonet and Carens models account for 34% and 16%, respectively.

Since its launch in 2019, Kia India has made a marked impact on the Indian automotive industry with its advanced technology and innovative design. The company has debunked the notion that India is only a cost-sensitive market, with 42% of its sales coming from the top trims. Kia India has also encouraged the adoption of automatic and newer transmission technologies in the country. The company offers three types of automatic transmissions—IVT, 6AT, and 7DCT—which make up 32% of total sales. Additionally, the Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), launched with the Sonet in 2020, contributes 15% to domestic dispatches. The ratio of petrol to diesel sales currently stands at 59% to 41%.

Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer at Kia India, stated, "We have been achieving milestones constantly since our launch in record time. These milestones become even more important when you face diversity at every step of this country and competition from legacy players with more than a decade of experience. Achieving 1 million domestic sales is a testament to our continued focus on the Indian market and the need gap of the Indian customers. My heartfelt thanks to all our customers who have shown trust in our brand and made us one of the most loved carmakers in the country."

He further added, "Kia is synonymous with innovation. With our latest technology, design, and in-car features, we constantly challenge established practices, not only in India but globally as well. We will soon launch our global flagships in India this year, followed by a home-grown new model, which will prove the above claim. India is a thriving ground for automotive companies, and with our innovative and aspirational products and services, we are sure to be one of the major catalysts to the growth of the Indian Automotive Industry."

Kia India's sales numbers reflect its ascending trajectory. The company began with an annual sales volume of 45,226 units in 2019, which increased to 140,505 units in 2020, 181,583 units in 2021, and 254,556 units in 2022. Last year alone, Kia recorded sales of 255,000 units. In the first seven months of 2024, the company has sold almost 150,000 units domestically, suggesting a positive trend leading up to the festive season.

In addition to solid domestic sales, Kia India has also made substantial contributions to the export market. The company has dispatched over 2.6 lakh units to more than 100 countries. Combining both domestic and overseas sales, Kia India's cumulative sales stand at nearly 1.3 million units.

Kia India has also expanded its presence across the nation with a network of 588 touchpoints in 256 cities. This widespread footprint has been pivotal in achieving the 1 million unit sales milestone in such a short span.
